Bushnell Elite 4200 6-24x40 Reviews

Bushnell Elite 4200 6 24x40All rise, here comes the king.  The king of riflescopes in the good old USA that is.  The Bushnell Elite 4200 series of scopes is, in my not so humble opinion, the best value for the serious shooter.  When I say that, I am not in any disparaging the Swarovski, Zeiss or other premium rifle scopes.  Face it, most of us that work for a living can only dream of owning a Zeiss.  Until now, a premium scope for most rifle shooters and hunters meant putting a Leupold on their favorite firearm.

Don’t get me wrong, I always have been and probably always will be a huge Leupold fan.  Now that I have tried the Bushnell Elite 4200 series, I can no longer call myself strictly a Leupold man.

My favorite scope has been a Leupold 12X I purchased in 1979 for the princely sum of $249.00.  That was a fortune back then and I saved and agonized over spending that much on a scope, especially since the Remington 700 ADL (walnut stock) was only $209.  After a decent trigger job, that rifle/scope combination has been the most accurate rig I have ever shot.  Many thousands of rounds have gone downrange for targets, cans, rocks, gophers, prairie dogs, coyotes, skunks, badgers and even a couple of mule deer.
I didn’t think a nicer, more useable scope could be found.

Until I tried the Bushnell Elite 4200 6-24 X 40.  Oh Wow.  The optics on this scope are ultra clear, the adjusting knobs are easy to turn and very precise, especially the power adjustment ring as it is extremely easy to turn even in cold weather with gloves.

The Rainguard coating is just amazing to use.  If you have ever tried to see thru a scope with water or snow drops on it you will know exactly what I mean.  They don’t even phase the Elite 4200.  According to Bushnell, the Rainguard lens coating actually disperses the condensation into microscopic specs and you look around them.  Whatever.  All I know is I can hunt and see through a scope now when I couldn’t before.

I put the Elite 4200 on a Savage .223 and have never looked back.  The scope will let me shoot to the full capabilities of the cartridge (under 400 yards) as well as my own ability.

For around $500, this has got to be one of the best values on today’s market.

"This scope is great. I bought this over a Leopuld equivalent, and haven't even come close to regretting that decision. Buschnell offers a fantastic warranty, which will likely never get used because this scope is very rugged. I mounted this scope to my Remington 700 and after sighting it in have taken it a number of times hunting and to the range. It hasn't shifted at all and I haven't pampered it…"  - T.J.
